2129 HADDAD MAIA SEES OFF WOZNIACKI

Brazilian 22nd seed Beatriz Haddad Maia knocked out former Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki 6-2 3-6 6-3 to set up a quarter-final clash with Czech Karolina Muchova.

1958 MEDVEDEV STORMS PAST BORGES

Former champion Daniil Medvedev had little trouble overcoming Portugal's Nuno Borges 6-0 6-1 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals. The Russian fifth seed will meet the winner of the clash between top-ranked Jannik Sinner and Tommy Paul.

1936 FIRE ALARM ISSUE

A technical problem caused by a fire alarm in the building housing where the electronic line calling system Hawkeye operates briefly halted matches between Beatriz Haddad Maia and Caroline Wozniacki at Louis Armstrong Stadium and Daniil Medvedev and Nuno Borges at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

1826 DRAPER RALLIES INTO QUARTER-FINALS

Britain's Jack Draper dispatched unseeded Czech Tomas Machac 6-3 6-1 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals. The 22-year-old will face the winner of the all-Australian clash between Alex de Minaur and Jordan Thompson.

American sixth seed Jessica Pegula reached the U.S. Open quarter-finals for a second time after securing a 6-4 6-2 win over 20-year-old Russian 18th seed Diana Shnaider.

1618 MUCHOVA UPSETS PAOLINI TO REACH QUARTERS

Unseeded Czech Karolina Muchova knocked out Italian fifth seed Jasmine Paolini, beating the French Open and Wimbledon finalist 6-3 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals.

Muchova, 28, had reached the U.S. Open semis last year.
